This paper looks into the accomplishments and successes of the United Nations organization. The very fact that the global community has been protected from the occurrence of another major global event of the form of World War One or World War Two speaks volumes of the success of United Nations Organization. League of Nations in contrast could not prevent this and in a span of merely two decades, the world was dragged into a war that was more catastrophic and more horrific than the first one. Hence this comes as an essentially established success of United Nations organization and its effective existence. One of the hallmarks of United Nations working is the peace keeping force. On many occasions the peace keeping forces have been deployed for the purpose of restoring peace in the war hit zones. The peace keeping forces comprise of the member nations who provide their specialized and skilled military personnel who under the banner and flag of United Nations aim at restoring peace. There are number of major conflicts and events where United Nations has successfully engaged peace keeping forces. These include peace keeping missions to Bosnia, Cambodia, Sierra Leone, Kosovo and Haiti to name a few. Liberia is one prime example that has directly been assisted by United Nations towards reconstruction and rehabilitation process after it was hit with severe challenges in the wake of social and economic troubles faced.
